Wrestling Championships Keep Fans on Edge to the End

RICHFIELD, Utah (February 11, 2023) — State wrestling for 1A and 2A schools was held at the Sevier Valley Center in Richfield Friday and Saturday.

Anyone who has ever been to the SVC knows the sights, sounds and smells of the Richfield arena, and 1A state wrestling was no different. The room buzzed with excitement — and concessions popcorn machines. Cheerleaders and fans cheered from the stands as wrestlers on an array of mats on the floor fought for first in the state.

There were many exciting matches, keeping fans on the edges of their seats the whole time. One championship match (Houston-Morrison) even went on for an excruciating seven minutes including overtime. Now that’s some endurance!
