The Weird Dream

– by Adam W. (5th Grade) Circleville

We had just put up our beautiful Christmas tree,
And I was filled with so much glee.
But all of a sudden, I heard a very loud beep.
And then I heard someone take a small leap.

I saw that it was my trouble-making elf.
You know him, the one on the shelf.
Then I heard a really loud crash,
And saw that the TV was brutally smashed!

I tried to get him, but I banged against the fridge.
Then the elf spawned a mysterious bridge.
I followed it, and it led me to the wonderful North Pole.
The more and more I walked, I saw more and more coal.

I wondered, “Have a lot of kids been acting bad?”
That idea made me very gloomy and sad.
Then I realized Santa had coal because so many kids were good!
I was relieved, and I took my elf home as fast as I could.

It was all a really odd and weird dream,
Where things were not as they might seem.
On that lovely and wonderful Christmas night,
I was glad so many children were doing what’s right.

What Christmas Is Really About

– by Alexis M. (5th Grade) Circleville –

The other day I was thinking of Christmases past,
And thought about this year. It’s approaching fast!
What memories will this Christmas hold?
I hope they’re the best, more precious than gold.

One year everyone in my family got a Nerf gun,
And suddenly we started having some family fun.
But Dad said, “First we must clear out the fragile things,
So they don't get hit by the nerf guns’ bings.”

My dad and sister were on one team.
My mom and I joined forces, and our faces started to gleam!
My dad has good aim and sometimes I’m scared.
He’s hard to beat, but I have never really cared.

Another year we got a fast remote control race car.
We let it charge all night, so it could go far.
Then we raced it around and around the room,
And laughed and smiled when we saw it zoom!

I can hardly wait to make more memories this year,
With my family gathered around sharing love and cheer.
Whatever we do, I’m sure that we will see,
Our Christmas memories are special when we're family.

Christmas is Here

– by Arianna N. (5th Grade) Circleville

One night I woke up to get a drink, and I saw something red, not pink.
I looked over by the tree, and I saw Santa give me a quick wink.
When I was quietly walking back to my bedroom,
I was curious what Santa would bring me. Maybe a broom?

All of a sudden I saw a bright, red light on my window.
I wondered, “Could it be Rudolph that made it glow?”
The next morning, half asleep, I went to the tree.
When I opened my eyes, I was filled with such glee!

I shook my presents to guess what they were,
But everything just seemed like it was a big blur.
I was waiting for this day to come all year long!
I wanted to sing my favorite Christmas song.

I went to my mom’s room to tell her that it was Christmas,
And she rapidly jumped up and ran with such quickness.
Then, we had a holly, jolly time opening each amazing present.
Finally, my mom said, “This is great! Isn’t family time pleasant?"

The Night of Christmas Eve

– by Denim M. (5th Grade) Circleville –

On a beautiful, snowy Christmas Eve night,
The glistening lights are ever so bright.
I hear something coming down the chimney—
The squeaks and cracks make it sound a little flimsy.

Then suddenly, I hear something hit the hard ground,
Though it lands with a thump, it makes not a sound.
I creep over to see that it’s Santa under the tree!
Then I run back to my bed filled with excitement and glee!

I wonder what kind of presents he might bring.
“Maybe a doll that sings? Maybe a little bell to ring?”
I look outside my window in the deep snow,
And I hear something in the sky, a little “Ho, ho, ho.”

All of a sudden, there was a very loud blow,
And I say, “Wasn't there a sleigh here a second ago?”
When my mom wakes me, I say to myself, “Could this really be?”
I open my presents from Santa to find shiny, white poles to ski!

Christmas Story

– by Drake A. (5th Grade) Circleville –

It was a perfect Christmas Eve night,
And in our hearts there was no fright.
Rather than sadness, envy, or fear,
Each eye was filled with a happy tear.

First, we played board games and ate juicy turkey.
We weren’t ready for bed yet—we were too excited and perky.
So we put homemade cookies in the oven to bake.
Then we gathered by the tree that was real, not fake.

While we watched a show we ate some rolls that were delicious and puffy.
Then it was time for bed, so we got in our PJ's to get comfy.
When Santa arrived we awoke in happy glee excited to open presents.
We looked in the stockings and tried to find the hidden gifts with our parents.

Finally, we went to church with a lovely family to learn of Jesus’ story.
When we heard the story, everyone was stunned by its powerful glory.
Then we ate the leftover muffins so nothing went in the garbage bin,
And played with our toys with my uncle who always lets me win.

It was a perfect Christmas day that couldn't get any better,
Unless of course, we added a big tray of crackers and cheddar.
We wrapped up the day as we watched a show named Home Alone.
Although my sister was upset with me, because I hit her with my drone.

‘Twas The Night Before Christmas

by Emree S. (5th Grade) Circleville

‘Twas the night before Christmas. He went straight to his work.
I wanted to see him, so I tried to lurk.
He filled the stockings one by one,
And within a flash he was all done.

He put the presents under the tree,
So neatly and nicely. He was as quiet as a flea.
He scurried around like a mouse,
And soon enough, he was done with our house.

I was filled with so much glee that Christmas day.
I wondered what I would get. I got something grey.
I went outside to play in the snow.
All of a sudden I saw a red light that started to glow!

I thought it was Rudolph whose nose was so bright.
Then I heard, “Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!”
He blew a whistle to signal his team,
And they flew away as if in a dream.

Christmas Night

– by Huntlee B. (5th Grade) Circleville –

One night when I was sitting by the firelight,
With the flames burning warm and bright,
Everything outside was cold and dark,
And suddenly I heard my dogs start to bark!

At first it startled me and gave me quite a fright.
Because with loud sounds, kids are easy to excite.
But then I relaxed and started to settle down,
And my mouth gave a smile to replace my frown.

Out on the roof in the white, frosty snow,
I saw a bright, red light that was all aglow.
I realized that I had nothing to fear;
I saw it was Rudolph, you know, the reindeer.

I also saw that Santa was standing out there,
And his face told me he really did care,
About all the children who lived on the earth,
And wanted them to have something of great worth.

He wanted each and every girl and boy,
To be happy and full of great joy.
Because he knew the best gift is a happy heart,
The love of family and friends is the most important part.

The Holly Jolly Night

– by Izamar H. (5th Grade) Circleville –

It's a holly, jolly night to play in the snow.
When we’re done, would you like to watch a show?
No, then how about we make some cookie dough,
Or look out the window and watch that pretty doe?

What a holly, jolly night we had tonight.
I know you can't sleep because of the bright lights.
Don't listen to the greedy elf, or he’ll start a fight.
Sleep well, and don't let the bedbugs bite.

I scream with glee when morning comes.
I wake up my parents by screaming, “Wake up, bums!”
I open up my presents and find brand new drums.
Then, I go to my room to eat purple plums.

At last I go skating on the icy road.
I look down the road and see someone get towed.
I go inside to get my favorite stuffed toad.
Then, I play Bloxy Rebound on the hardest mode.

Christmas Eve

by Landin J. (5th Grade) Circleville

A few years ago on a snowy Christmas Eve,
It was as quiet as could be and every kid did believe.
Suddenly the silence was broken when I heard my dogs bark,
I wondered what they could see outside in the cold and dark.

I got my coat, ran outside and saw Santa’s reindeer fly away.
I thought, “I ruined Christmas! How could I on this special day?
Have I ruined Christmas for everyone?
Maybe I can fix Christmas before it is all done.”

So I told Santa we could use my strong horses,
To take presents to the world. We could join forces.
I said, “But, how will we go in the sky so high?”
Then he put on some magic that made my horses fly.

Then he said, “That helps, but now we need a sleigh.”
I said, “We can use one of our trailers that we use to haul hay.”
Then he said, “Okay, this is a new adventure, and I think it will be fun.”
So I connected my horses to the trailer and said, “There, we are done!”

So Santa and I delivered presents to every kid who did believe.
One by one, town to town, and the last one was to a boy named Steve.
Then suddenly, I saw his reindeer with the sleigh!
I showed him where it was. It was a good finish to a great day!

Christmas Night

– by McKenzi B. (5th Grade) Circleville –

‘Twas the night before Christmas and everyone was jolly,
My sister told us she wanted a dolly.
We decorated the Christmas tree with white and red,
Then my mom said it was time for bed.

I did not want to go to bed.
But I was sent there anyway. “Ok,” I said.
Then I heard someone say, “Ho, ho, ho!”
It was Santa on our roof of snow.

I was so excited that I started to yell,
So Santa came to my room, and off the bed I fell!
Then he caught me in his big, strong arm,
And made sure I received no harm.

I looked at him and froze like ice,
In his cheery voice he asked if I'd been nice.
I answered, “Of course, I’m always good.”
Now I treasure the place in my room where Santa stood.

Christmas

by Porter S. (5th Grade) Circleville

When we got home from playing in our huts,
My sisters were so crazy. I thought they had gone nuts!
So we went down a hill on a big, red sled.
After the fun was over, I went to bed.

But then I heard a big “achoo!”
I think Santa found a dirty chimney flue!
The next morning by the tree, I saw my Christmas gun.
I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it and have a lot of fun!

My second gift was a small model jet.
I was so excited to build it. It was the best one yet.
We worked together and built it in a flash,
I put it up high on a shelf, so it wouldn’t crash.

We looked in our stockings, and what did we see?
There was a whole bunch of candy just for me!
I really didn’t want this day to leave.
I can hardly wait for the next Christmas Eve.
