At the beginning of September Panguitch High School had a service day for 9/11; on this day we created postcards for soldiers and people in the care center. The students also helped make quilts for the care center and cleaned up around our school and wrote positive sayings with chalk around the sidewalk of the school. Thirdly we made hats for the homeless, and we also had a car wash. The funds from the car wash will be donated to a charity of our choice.

The student council planned an exciting spirit bowl for the student body, where we went to the gym and had relay races and different games, including crab soccer — which was their favorite.

In the middle of September the school also planned a mud dance outside, and the students said that it was one of the best dances that the school had planned.

The high school baseball team, the Bobcats, is currently ranked number one seed, and state baseball was at the beginning of October. Our baseball team beat Wayne 2-1 in the semifinals. In the finals, however, we lost to Piute 2-7. Congratulations to Piute for winning the state championship five times in a row!

Congratulations to Carter Y. for consistently taking the top five at the cross country races! Cross country is having a great time this year.

The high school volleyball team is also ranked number two seed, and state volleyball will be at the end of October.

The Student of the Month is Jackson W.; his favorite thing about Panguitch High is the teachers, and his favorite teacher is Mr. Dax.

The Teacher of the Month is Mrs. Cowan; her favorite thing about Panguitch High School is that the students take their academics seriously and that taking our academics seriously helps us take our sports seriously.

Sometimes the youth surprise us with their ideas, but it is certainly a joy to see what this generation has to say about the world and their place in it.
