Summer vacation has come to an end, and with that Panguitch High School has kicked off the beginning of the school year in a great way.
The assembly that commenced on Wednesday morning displayed an amazing dance routine and cheer performance by the Bobcat cheerleaders, after which the Panguitch High School student council introduced the theme for the school year, “Discover Your Inner Hero.” The theme portrays that anyone can be a hero and that it does not take anything special to become one.
Principal Torgersen closed the assembly by stating the motto that he implores everyone to follow throughout the year, “We are Panguitch, where effort equals success.” Mr. Torgersen would then follow up this statement by stating that we should focus on the things that we can do and not the things that we can’t do.
Panguitch High also welcomed two new teachers to the staff and five new students to the high school and two new students at the Panguitch Middle School. The new teachers include Jeff Owen who will be teaching the high school math classes and Brad Tanner who will be over student support.
Panguitch High School was able to receive a student through the foreign exchange program. Manuela, a senior this year, is from Italy and will be staying the whole school year.
Everyone at Panguitch High School is excited for what this year will bring and can’t wait. And as Mr. Torgersen stated, focus on what you can do not what you can’t do, and remember we are Panguitch, where effort equals success.
