“True Meaning of Christmas” is the last of eight Christmas articles received from Wayne High School students. Three of them were published in The Byway’s most recent November paper. All will be featured online.

Christmas has a different meaning to everyone around the world. For most people, it’s a time to come together with family and friends. We exchange gifts, celebrate, and make amazing memories. Christmas isn’t only about giving gifts and making memories, it’s also about the kindness and love we have for each other. Christmas is a time to show compassion for those around you. Many people like to do service acts while others like to donate or give things away.

A lot of the time, it’s easy for us to get off track about what’s really important. Christmas is the birth of Jesus Christ. Christmas shows the hope and love Christ has given us. This is more important to some people than others. Even if you have a different perspective on Christmas, the love and kindness that comes with the holiday should be there for everyone.

Not everyone is going to remember everything they got from every Christmas. The things I do remember are the cherished moments with our families, the love we felt during the holiday, the joy, and the happiness. I can say that some of my favorite memories are the times I spent with my family.

One of them is when we went night sledding. We brought the trucks to a steep hill that was covered in snow. The headlights helped us see. We climbed to the very stop and flew our sleds to the bottom. My family and friends were there, and it was one of the best nights I’ve had. Another super fun memory was when we were getting our Christmas tree, but this year was different because there was a lot of snow. My sister and I tied sleds to the back of the razors and got pulled around. I had so much fun that day, it became a new tradition because of the joy it brought us.

Besides all the fun we have, I also remember all the kind things my family has done for me. One year was a hard year for me, my family was super supportive and helped me enjoy the holidays even though I was struggling. My parents always pay attention to me and know exactly what to do for me. I also love when I can bring them joy. My favorite thing to do during Christmas is give to others. Sometimes I forget what Christmas is really about and worry about things I shouldn’t. The older I get the easier, it is to remember the true meaning of Christmas and why we spend so much time together. I’ll never forget the love and kindness I get to feel during the holidays. I hope everyone can have at least one special moment they will remember forever. That is what the real meaning of Christmas means to not only me but many people around the world.
