October was an exciting month for Panguitch High School — full of state championships, assemblies, and Halloween activities.
At the beginning of October we had state baseball. Unfortunately we took 2nd at state. Good job to the Piute T-birds for taking 1st! We also went to Escalante for the constitution bowl. Thank you Escalante for hosting. The student body officers planned a Halloween dance called “Spooky Sadies.” Students came in costumes and had a great time.
We had two pep assemblies this month for cross country and volleyball. A big thanks to our cheerleaders for making our pep assemblies exciting! The lady bobcats went to state volleyball and also took 2nd place. Congratulations to the Rich Rebels for taking 1st at state.
The sheriff’s office presented a red ribbon week assembly to remind us to not do drugs and how drugs can destroy an individual’s life. They also handed out some really cool swag, water bottles, bracelets, beanies and lollipops. Thank you, Sheriff Perkins and the deputies/officers of Garfield County for teaching us about the harm drugs can do.
Panguitch Middle School hosted a really fun Zombie Contest which was basically a three-and-a-half mile run, and along the way zombies chased the runners. The winners received gift cards!
The quote of the month for October was, “Don’t give up! I believe in you all. A person’s a person, no matter how small!” – Dr. Seuss, to put it in simpler words the quote says to believe in yourself.
The Panguitch student of the month for October was Thomas Dodds. His favorite thing about Panguitch High School is the community. One of his other favorite things is the cross country meets and all the fun that they bring. His favorite quote is, “Life is like a straw, only you can make it suck.” – Thomas Dodds. One of Thomas’ favorite hobbies is traveling and one of the places he wants to visit is Europe, mainly Italy.
The teacher of the month was Mr. Dax, and his favorite thing about Panguitch High School is that the students aren’t afraid to go out of their comfort zone and try something new. Since he’s been the weightlifting teacher he’s noticed that a lot of new students are going out of their comfort zone to take weightlifting and improve themselves. One of his favorite hobbies is working out to keep him in shape for the outdoors.
We are looking forward to November sports and lots of turkeys on Thanksgiving!
