Congratulations to all our student athletes for finishing the year out so strong! Two of our Panguitch athletes were recently awarded for their exceptional performance at the state track meet.
Kyler Bennett, a senior at Panguitch High School, was awarded track and field Fielder of the Year 1A-3A by Mid-Utah Radio. And we can see why: Kyler performed very well in the state track meet. He received a gold medal in javelin, discus and shot put.
Adelaide Englestead, a junior, was also awarded for her success on the track. She received the overall track and field Athlete of the Year award. Adelaide won the gold in the 800 meter, the 1600 meter, the 3200 meter and the medley relay. Deseret News said she was one of the ones “paving the way for Panguitch success” this year.
But Kyler and Adelaide were not the only Panguitch athletes bringing home the gold. The Panguitch boys and girls teams both took first place at the state track meet — the boys with a very close 8 points over Milford. This was a win for everyone involved.
“I think it’s really exciting,” Adelaide said, “and being able to win something as a team means more than winning just as an individual in my opinion, just ‘cause it’s fun to celebrate with everyone and see everyone’s success.”
Once again, we are so proud of all of our athletes for the effort and the passion that they put into their sports. Way to show them what you’re made of!
