On September 3, 2024, students and faculty eagerly filtered into the doors of the new high school after a two-week starting delay. While the building is still in various stages of completion, everyone is loving the new den. The 7th-grade journalism class took to the halls to discover what their fellow badgers think.

Senior Makaylee Burningham likes the fact that the class of 2025 will be the first to graduate in the new building but said it will take time to get used to the 8th and 7th graders sharing the school. Nicolas Ayala, a 7th grader, is excited to attend the new school, but he has one question: “Why did they put locks on the lockers?” Almost half of the students interviewed like that the building is two stories tall but feel that it is too plain. Kyler Flores, a junior, said, “There are not a lot of decorations.” To that, the administration said, yet! It will take some time to get the school personalized. We are still under construction and finishing the CTE areas, kitchen, and library are the priorities.

Mrs. Williams, who has taught classes in both the high school and middle school for the last few years, was asked her feelings about both the old and new buildings. “You grow attached to certain places after a while,” she said, but she likes all the new possibilities for students. Many students echoed her thoughts, but an 8th-grader explained it best: “I miss the old school, but I’m glad for the change and excited to embrace this new adventure.”
