The Utah High School Athletics Association and Deseret News presented the 2021-2022 Academic All-state teams for boys and girls basketball. Several athletes from along the Byway qualified for this award.
For girls basketball, these Academic Athletes are:

Boys basketball Academic Athletes are:
Ross A. — Bryce Valley
Kyler B. — Panguitch
Kyle M. — Piute.
Robert C. Cuff writes to award recipients, “For over 25 years the UHSAA has presented the Academic All-State Award to recognize those students who have excelled in the classroom as well as in athletic competition. Individuals are selected for this award on the basis of their athletic ability and academic proficiency. With over 85,000 students participating in high school activities, this award is the most prestigious honor the UHSAA presents to senior students. On behalf of all those who are associated with the UHSAA, I congratulate and pay tribute to those individuals who have earned and received this distinguished award.”
Deseret News also announced their 1A All-state basketball teams. According to Deseret News, the teams are determined by coach’s votes from a list of nominated players. Athletes along the Byway are as follows.
