On September 16-20 Piute High School brought spirit week to the school. Students all throughout the school came together to participate in fun and entertaining activities including dressing up each day.
To start off the week, the theme was USA day to show American pride. Almost everyone was wearing their best American attire such as patriotic shirts and pants. To end the school day we had a powder puff baseball game. Two teams of girls went head-to-head as the boys baseball team coached, while the whole school was on the sidelines screaming and cheering. Even Brontus, the T-Bird mascot was there to show his support. Nothing is more American than baseball.
The second day was Piute pride. Everyone wore their Piute attire, with the occasional boys and girls wearing cheer uniforms. To really show our Piute pride we had a volleyball powder puff game with the boys participating. Each grade played against each other in a tense game. This time the student fans were even louder than before. Pompoms were thrown around while the cheerleaders chanted. Girls cheered for their peers while their screams echoed through the gym. In the end, the senior boys took the win.
The third day we “dressed to impress” for our school picture day. Most girls wore nice dresses and boys wore suits or dress shirts.
The fourth day was “Soccer Mom vs. BBQ Dad.” Most girls cosplayed as dads with pillows stuffed up their shirts and holding spatulas. They even took the time and effort to draw a fake beard. The other half of the school went with the classic soccer mom with a messy bun, workout attire, and attitude in their walk.
The fifth day, despite there being no school, we still got together to make our floats for our spirit week parade. Each grade was assigned a different decade and that surrounded their theme. Seniors were the fifties, sophomores were the sixties, and so on, with the seventh graders being the two thousands. We paraded down the street for the county to watch while throwing candy at little kids …
The last and final day of spirit week ended with a chalk dance where people went and hung out, while having some great fun throwing chalk at one another. Some still have it in their ears a week later.
In the end, spirit week at Piute High School was a vibrant celebration of school spirit. Each day’s unique theme, from USA day to the powder puff games, created excitement and camaraderie among the students. Piute High truly raised the roof with this week participating and showing school pride.
