Members of the Piute Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) chapter recently had the unique opportunity to gain real-world insights into the business industry while taking a tour of one of The Shirt Stop’s facilities in Richfield, Utah.
The FBLA members, accompanied by their advisors, were introduced to various aspects of the screen printing business industry, from design and production to marketing and customer service. The Shirt Stop team graciously opened their doors to the students, providing a behind-the-scenes look at the day-to-day operations that contribute to the company’s success.
During the tour, Piute FBLA members had the chance to interact with The Shirt Stop owner and employees from different departments, asking questions and gaining valuable advice about pursuing careers in the business and entrepreneurship fields. Chapter members were able to connect concepts they have learned in FBLA and apply them in a practical setting.
Piute FBLA was especially interested in the screen printing industry since Piute High School recently obtained a screen printing machine and embroidery machine. Students will be taking classes to learn how to create customized apparel and products with those machines. Visiting The Shirt Stop encouraged even more students to participate in those classes.
“The tour at The Shirt Stop was an eye-opener for many of our FBLA members,” said Shauna Bagley, the Piute FBLA chapter advisor. “What a great opportunity for our FBLA students to see first hand how this business has grown from a small mom and pop local business, to have a world-renowned presence. Mr. Thompson did a great job in discussing all aspects of this business and answering student questions.”
The Shirt Stop’s management expressed enthusiasm about hosting the Piute FBLA chapter, emphasizing the importance of fostering a connection between local businesses and the younger generation. They believe that these interactions can increase the interest of students in this particular business industry.
The Piute FBLA chapter members expressed their gratitude for the opportunity. Many students left with a newfound appreciation for those who run a successful business and increased interest in pursuing careers in entrepreneurship and related fields.
The collaboration between Piute FBLA and The Shirt Stop shows the importance of creating partnerships between students and local businesses. These opportunities help bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world applications. As these students continue to explore their passions, such experiences are sure to leave a lasting impact on their future in the business world.
