The Red Cliffs Temple will be dedicated next spring, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced Monday.
President Henry B. Eyring of the First Presidency will dedicate the temple on March 24, 2024, in two sessions at 10:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
The dedication will be broadcast to church meetinghouses in the Red Cliffs Temple District, located in Washington Fields and the surrounding area.
The open house is for everyone. It will run from January 30 until March 2, 2024, excluding Sundays. During this time, anyone interested can go and tour the temple.
Church leaders take this open house as an opportunity to teach people who are not members of the church about what goes on in temples. For the church, these temples are a place to feel close to God, perform marriage ceremonies and do ordinances for the dead — with the particularly influential doctrine of connecting families forever. After the temple is dedicated, only church members with a temple recommend will be allowed to enter the temple.
The temple, previously called the Washington County temple, was renamed to the Red Cliffs Temple after its groundbreaking in 2020. It will be the second temple in St. George and will be dedicated not long after the St. George ‘pioneer temple’ is rededicated following renovations.
Red Cliffs will be the 28th temple finished in Utah.
