The St. George Temple will be rededicated on December 10, 2023, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced Monday.
Due to a 4-year renovation project announced by President Russell M. Nelson, the St. George Temple has been closed since November 2019.
When it is finished later this year, the public will be able to come see the temple for an open house period of nearly two months. From September 15 until November 11 the temple will be available for tours, including on Sundays and on the day of the Church’s Saturday general conference session in October.
Following the open house, the historic temple will be dedicated for the third time in its history.
On December 10 two dedication sessions will be broadcast to all congregations in the St. George Utah Temple district. Some of these stakes would include Enterprise, some in Kanab, and others in and surrounding St. George.
Before the Cedar City Temple was completed and dedicated in December of 2017, Church members all over Southern Utah flocked to the St. George Temple. Because of that, this temple still holds a special place in the hearts of many members in the Byway’s area.
And soon, with the growing populations around St. George, the St. George Temple District will be split yet again to work in the Red Cliffs temple in Washington. The groundbreaking for this temple took place in November of 2020.
The Church added that additional details regarding the St. George Temple dedication will be announced as the date approaches.
