The Piute High School Class of 2022 is an incredible group of young men and women. During their time here at Piute High School, they have accomplished so many things. In fact, several of these students have made school history by holding multiple state championships. Our senior baseball players have taken four back-to-back state championships, while some of the same boys have added a state cross country and a state basketball championship totaling six overall state titles. To my knowledge, this has never happened in the history of Piute High School.
And of course some of these young ladies have added to the history too by taking two back-to-back girls basketball state championships. They have added multiple region and divisional championships as well.
Senior athletes are 1A MVP’s multiple times and some in multiple sports.
Off the court, this group has also excelled. Our senior athletes have been awarded academic all-region and academic all-state honors. Students have taken top honors in clubs such as FBLA, FFA, state math competitions, and art shows. Most have spent their last two years enrolled in concurrent college classes and several students spent their last semester of high school attending Snow College and beginning their next step in their education.
As could be seen by the medals and cords they wore around their necks at graduation commencement, they have earned many top honors. Twenty students have completed 22 pathways this year in the Career and Technical Education field, which helps prepare them to enter into the career of their interest.
For the first time at our school, we have given out a Thunderbird Service award, which has been awarded to three students for their overall service that has been rendered on behalf of Piute High School. This year’s senior class has taken the lead and shown the underclassmen just what is possible with a lot of hard work. Indeed their talents are diverse and impressive.
On May 23, we held the annual senior awards banquet and presented $566,774 in scholarships. What an amazing accomplishment. Class of 2022, you have indeed made us “Piute Proud.”
