Why Christmas Is Family to Koosharem Elementary

Some of our friends at Koosharem Elementary wrote to us about the meaning of Christmas to them. Here’s what Emmery, Porter, Hunter, Emma, Van, Lilo, Addi, Avery and Wendell said:

It’s a time to rap while you wrap presents!

– by Emmery T. (10)

To me Christmas isn’t just about the presents. It’s about spending time with your family and having fun with them.

– by Porter W. (10)

Christmas to me means spending time with family and having a good time.

by Hunter F. (10)

Christmas is family getting together and the dinner. Nothing can be more fun than the games and sleep.

by Emma S. (9)

Christmas is great! It is the best out of any holiday. Christmas is like my TV. You spend with your family. Thank you.

by Van R. (11)

My favorite thing about Christmas is spending time with my family.

by Lilo R. (10)

Christmas is about life. It is about spending time with your loved ones.

by Addi M. (10)

I love presents to open on Christmas time. I love Christmas dinner with family on Christmas.

by Avery M. (10)

I love Christmas because I love snow. It is a wonderful time of the year.

by Wendell S. (12)

Christmas of Yesterday

I long for the feelings
That filled my heart and soul
With the joys of living and Christmas
That made my young self whole

I recall the wintery nights
Spent on my back under the tree
Placing miniature plastic soldiers
Who were battling to make and keep others free

Santa usually came knocking
Outside the frost covered window pane
It proved to scare us silly
All our energy it did drain

If only I could once more
Have that feeling of years bygone,
I yearn for youthful innocence
Are you with me, or am I alone?
