RRCI Announces Disability Services Available

For Those Facing Cognitive or Physical Challenges

Serving Sevier, Wayne, Piute, and Garfield counties — RRCI is one of six Centers for Independent Living designated by the State of Utah to serve the disability community. Our mission statement is: To empower people with disabilities in nine southwestern Utah counties to live independently through education, personalized services, and technology.

RRCI provides information and referrals to anyone in these rural communities needing to find specific programs and services to empower people with disabilities to live independently.

Some of the services we provide are:

  • Advocacy
  • Independent Living Skills Training
  • Information and Referral
  • Peer Support
  • Nursing Home Transition and Diversion

RRCI is also a great source for those in need of technology and mobility equipment.

Equipment may be purchased for individuals with disabilities through the Utah State Office of Rehabilitation (USOR), the Utah Assistive Technology Foundation (UTAF), or other funding opportunities. An assessment is conducted to identify equipment that will increase independence at home and in the community. Assistive Technology is a service for individuals in need who meet financial eligibility criteria.

Rhonda Robinson, Independent Living Coordinator for RRCI, is excited to be serving the rural community and helping them find the resources they need. “I am trying to get the word out to people in the rural areas that I am here,” she said, because there are so many more people who could be taking advantage of this resource.

Located in Koosharem, Rhonda regularly travels to clients all over the four counties to provide disability services at no cost to them.
